Zion hat Dutzende Trails, aber wenn du einen Tagesausflug von Duck Creek machst, solltest du die Wege wählen, die dir das meiste für deine Zeit geben. Das ist keine vollständige Liste - es sind die Wanderungen, die wir einem Gast im Inn empfehlen würden, wenn er einen Tag im Park hat und ihn sinnvoll nutzen möchte.
Wir haben sie nach Schwierigkeit sortiert, damit du den Trail auf deine Gruppe, dein Energielevel und die Art des Tages abstimmen kannst. Kombiniere einen leichten Trail mit einem moderaten für einen vollen Tag oder geh alles auf eine einzelne anstrengende Wanderung. Wichtig ist, deinen Anker zu wählen, bevor du Duck Creek verlässt - nicht erst an der Shuttle-Schlange.

Coming from the east, Canyon Overlook. It is half a mile each way to a ledge above the whole lower canyon and you reach it in your own car, minutes past the tunnel, without ever touching the shuttle. The park rates it moderate rather than easy — its steepest pitch is 50.4% — but it is over in about an hour.
Canyon Overlook, the Pa’rus Trail, the Watchman Trail and the East Mesa route to Observation Point, plus everything in Kolob Canyons. Every trail up Zion Canyon itself — Riverside Walk, the Narrows, Emerald Pools, Kayenta, the Grotto, Weeping Rock, West Rim and Angels Landing — needs the shuttle for most of the year. Private cars can drive the Scenic Drive only in the non-shuttle window, usually December through February.
You can hike the West Rim Trail to Scout Lookout without one, which is 1.9 miles and 1,187 feet of climbing and gets you almost the entire view. The permit is only required for the final half mile along the chains beyond Scout Lookout, and it comes by lottery on recreation.gov.
The old route up from the canyon at Weeping Rock is closed — major rockfall means the East Rim Trail no longer connects to Zion Canyon at all. Observation Point itself is open and reached instead by the East Mesa Trail, 6.8 miles round trip for only about 300 feet of elevation change, from a trailhead on high-clearance dirt roads off North Fork Road.
It is about 46 miles and 55 minutes to the east entrance, then the tunnel and the canyon beyond it. Realistically one substantial hike plus one short one. A good pairing is Canyon Overlook on the way in, then a single canyon trail after you have parked and caught the shuttle.
The Sand Bench loop. It is 3.9 miles and rated moderate, but the park’s survey found two thirds of the tread is very soft sand, which walks far harder than the mileage suggests, and it is a commercial horse trail from March to October with almost no shade.
On exactly one: the Pa’rus Trail, on a leash. It is also the only trail in the park the NPS considers properly wheelchair accessible and the only one open to bicycles.
