Stellar Vista Observatory's December public star party falls on December 13, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Jackson Flat Reservoir boat launch parking area near Kanab, timed to the peak of the Geminids. The Geminids are the most reliable shower of the year, and the program also covers the Pleiades star cluster and Orion, both well placed in December. The star parties are free and open to everyone, with telescopes and volunteers on hand. Dress for a genuinely cold desert night; long December darkness means the viewing starts early and the drive home is not a late one.
