Upcoming events in Southern Utah

The east side of Zion is the closest stretch: Orderville and Mt. Carmel Junction are about 40 minutes south on US-89. Springdale is closer to an hour and a half through the park’s east entrance, longer when the gate line backs up in peak season. Plan evening events there with the dark drive home in mind.

Hurricane's community tree lighting runs Nov. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m., with Santa, a live nativity, and horse-drawn carriage rides.

Zion Half Marathon starts Feb. 27 at 7 a.m. on Kolob Terrace Road in Virgin and finishes at Cable Mountain Lodge in Springdale.

10:30 AM to 11:00 AM · This ranger talk takes place outdoors at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center amphitheater. To find the amphitheater, simply walk across the plaza from the front doors of the visitor center. · Free · Details

Ranger-led Stargazing Program NPS

06:30 PM to 07:30 PM · This program takes place near the Zion Nature Center. Park in the nature center parking lot, then follow the short, paved path to the South Campground Amphitheater. To reach the Nature Center by car, drive about 1/2 mile northeast from the park's South Entrance. There will be a sign for the Nature Center. Turn there and park in the designated parking lots. Limited spaces are available. If parking is full, the Nature Center is only a 10-15 minute walk from the Zion Canyon Visitor Center. Using the Pa'rus Trail, walk until you see a sign for the South Campground Amphitheater or Zion Nature Center. Follow the sign and look for additional signage pointing towards the program. · Free · Details
