What Is the Weather Like in Duck Creek Village in November?

Snow covers the ground about 10 days in an average November here, and about 22 days up at the Highway 14 summit, ten miles west.

Highway 14 stays open all winter. November changes the drive, the daylight and the gear list, and leaves the trip itself on.

Three mountain stations agree on November afternoons

Duck Creek Village has no working weather station, so every number here comes from a neighbor. The Assay fire weather station sits at 8,100 feet, six miles east. Panguitch Lake reports from 8,300 feet, and the Harris Flat snow site from 7,800 feet in a meadow five miles southeast. Their Novembers from 2013 through 2025 land within 1.2 degrees of each other on highs: 49.2, 48.1 and 48.0F.

Nights split the way they do in October. Assay and Panguitch Lake average 24F. Harris Flat averages 16F and freezes 29 nights out of 30, because cold air drains off the slopes after dark and pools in flat ground. Long stretches of Duck Creek run through that kind of meadow.

The valley gives you less relief than you would guess. Cedar City’s November normal low, 23.6F, sits within a degree of the mountain’s. The town 2,600 feet below you buys about five degrees of afternoon and almost nothing at night. St. George, at 2,857 feet, averages 63.8F highs and 34.7F lows, the first real change of climate on the drive down.

The snow line sits between the village and the summit

November is the month the snow decides to stay. The median date for the first inch that holds on the ground at Harris Flat is November 1, and 12 of the last 13 Novembers had at least one white day there. The amounts stay modest at village level: a median of 2 inches on the ground by November 30.

The top of the drive tells another story. Midway Valley, a snow site at 9,830 feet near the Highway 14 summit, averages 3 inches of precipitation in November, double the village stations, and carries snow on the ground 22 days of the month. Its median depth on November 30 reaches 18 inches.

That last row lands on the Sunday after Thanksgiving 2015, a common drive-home day. Coming from Cedar City, you cross the snowiest ground of the route near the summit, about ten miles before the village, so the hard part of the drive sits up high, not at your door. Check the Highway 14 cameras and closures before you leave town, and carry chains or snow tires from mid November on. The March 2026 snow report shows what last winter built by spring.

Roads, parks and lifts change status in November

November changes the status of a road, a park and a ski hill, and each one runs on its own clock.

Cedar Breaks closes its rim road when snowpack makes it unsafe, not on a calendar. The Park Service gives mid November as the average, and last winter the closure release came out January 2, 2026. After the gate shuts, you reach the viewpoints on snowshoes, cross country skis or a snowmobile.

Brian Head announced a November 6 opening this summer, backed by 24 new snow guns on its beginner mountain. Treat that as a target. Last season the resort pushed opening day to November 21. Daylight runs short after the clocks change

Utah falls back on Sunday, November 1. Sunset jumps from 6:34pm on Halloween to 5:33pm the next evening, and keeps sliding to 5:14pm by month’s end.

A Zion or Bryce day in late November leaves you climbing Highway 14 at dusk unless you turn around by 3pm. Deer cross the road at that hour, and the summit snowbanks sit right at the shoulder. Plan the park in the morning, the drive in daylight, and dinner close to the cabin. November plays the colder, quieter sibling to October on the mountain.

November puts snow on the spruce and leaves the trails to you. If that sounds like your kind of trip, our cabins and rooms sit at 8,464 feet on Highway 14.
