Three stations near the village set the July numbers

Duck Creek Village has no working weather station, so the numbers come from three neighbors. The Assay fire weather station sits at 8,100 feet, six miles east. Panguitch Lake reports from 8,300 feet, and the Harris Flat snow site from 7,800 feet in a meadow five miles southeast. Their July afternoons average 81.2, 77.6 and 79.5F.

July beats every other month for warmth at all three snow sites, ahead of June and August. Harris Flat reaches 80F on about 15 days of the month. Midway Valley, at 9,830 feet near the Highway 14 summit, stays under 70F on about half of July and has touched 80F on two days in 16 years, July 10 and 11, 2021. That same July 10 set the July record at every station: 95F at Assay, 91.6F at Harris Flat and 89.4F at Panguitch Lake.

Nights split by terrain, as they do all year. Assay averages a 52.8F low and Panguitch Lake 50.7F, and neither has recorded a freezing July night. Harris Flat averages 44.6F, because cold air drains off the slopes after dark and pools in flat meadow ground. The sun stays up late, too: sunset comes at 8:57 pm on July 1 and 8:41 pm on July 31.

The meadow runs coldest at the start of the month. At Harris Flat, lows average 41.2F over the first ten days of July and 46.4F over the middle ten. The cold opening of July 2026 reached the summit too, at 30.4F on July 1.

For the Fourth of July, plan for a sweater. July 4, 2027 falls on a Sunday. Over the last 14 Independence Days, Harris Flat ranged from a 73F to an 84F afternoon, and the night fell to 30.6F in 2026. Leave the fireworks at home. The June 4, 2026 interagency fire restrictions banned fireworks outside city limits in Kane County, and they are always prohibited on federal land, which includes Dixie National Forest around the village.

The National Weather Service defines the monsoon as June 15 through September 30, but on this plateau the rain comes in the middle of July. Only 7 percent of July precipitation at Panguitch Lake falls in the first ten days, and 14 percent at Harris Flat. July brings three to four times the rain of June, and our August weather post covers the month the storms peak.

The monsoon does not show up the same way each summer. Harris Flat recorded 0.1 in during July 2023. July 2024 brought nothing at all, and July 2025 brought 0.3 in. Then July 2026 brought 3.2 in there and 5.5 in at Panguitch Lake, its wettest July in 12 years. Check the weather page the week you come.

The NWS rules for a stormy afternoon are short. Go indoors at the first thunder, and stay inside 30 minutes after the last rumble. Never drive into a flooded road, and do not camp overnight near a stream during the monsoon. Our monsoon trail post covers what wet clay does to the riding routes.

July is also wildflower month at Cedar Breaks. The National Park Service held its Wildflower Festival July 3 to 11 in 2026 and July 4 to 12 in 2025, and our Cedar Breaks wildflower guide lists what blooms when.
